Scope of Services & Licensing

Mental health counseling (therapy) is provided only to clients located in the state(s) where the clinician is licensed to practice. Counseling services, including telehealth, are subject to applicable state licensing laws.

Coaching, where offered, is distinct from psychotherapy. Coaching is not mental health treatment, diagnosis, or counseling, and is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. The nature and scope of any services are confirmed in writing before services begin.

Supervised Practice

Services may be provided by a clinician practicing under professional supervision in accordance with New York licensing requirements. Information about supervised status and the supervising clinician is provided during intake.

Telehealth

Where services are delivered by telehealth, communication occurs over electronic platforms that carry inherent privacy and security risks. The platforms used and the nature of telehealth services are reviewed and consented to as part of the intake process.
